Lecture on 24.04.2021: Digitalization in forensic medicine – why, why, why?
Digitization in general and in forensic medicine in particular is advancing. A practical example will be used to show the motivation behind the topic of “digitalization” and how the topic can be approached concretely in forensic medicine. In doing so, we address the often prevailing initial situation with technical isolated solutions and use concrete measures to show the areas in which digitalization can help forensic medicine. In this context, the use of mobile input options, such as e.g. Apple iPad, plays an important role. Furthermore, we address how digitization can help avoid errors or speed up billing in the end. In addition, a technical interface to the hospital can help to use the data already available there. In this context, we show why it is advantageous to design an end-to-end digital process. In summary, the question is: Why should forensic medicine digitize, how can one proceed in this regard, and what should one pay attention to both in the run-up to and during the implementation of digitization?
