Electronic death certificate (eTB) recommended by the ÖGD Academy

You are here: Home / News / Electronic death certificate (eTB) recommended by the ÖGD Academy
4. February 2026 by INIT

We are delighted that the electronic death certificate (eTB) developed by INIT has successfully passed the evaluation process of the Digital Tools Project Office (PDT) and is therefore recommended for use in the public health service (ÖGD).

The Digital Tools Project Office is based at the Academy for Public Health and evaluates IT applications for the ÖGD in an independent and transparent process. The aim is to test digital tools that make the day-to-day work of health authorities easier and more efficient.

Two pilot projects in public health departments are required before such a recommendation can be made. Other decisive criteria in the two-stage evaluation process are:

  • added value
  • usability
  • interoperability
  • scalability
  • data protection
  • IT security

With the recommendation of the ÖGD Academy, the eTB has reached another important milestone. This means that their usefulness for health authorities has been proven by testing carried out by an independent body.
