Kafka Connect - aDSO Sink Connector

Product Description

The BW aDSO Sink Connector is a Kafka Connector designed to enable the writing of data from Kafka topics to SAP® BW advanced Data Store Objects.

Key Features

  • Real-Time Data Acquisition: Source systems can push data sets of any batch size, or even single events to the aDSO.
  • Data Bundling and Request Activation: The BI system bundles these datasets in so-called requests. A request gets activated if the customizable limits for time or size in the corresponding connector instance exceeds.
  • Data Format Compatibility: SAP BW advanced Data Store Objects accept data in a tabular format.
  • Data Type Support: Most of the SAP data types are supported by the connector. See supported data types.
  • Schema Mapping: The SAP system provides the metadata for the fields being extracted and the connector uses this information to map the Kafka Connect schema to the aDSO structure.

SAP Source System

The connector requires a SAP Netweaver BI System with support for BW Advanced Data Store Objects.

  • Tested on Confluent Platform v5.5.1, v6.0.1, v7.0.1, v7.5.0, v7.6.0 and v7.7.0
  • Tested with Apache Kafka and Connect API v2.5, v2.6, v2.8, v3.5, v3.6 and v3.8

Dependencies

The connectors make use of SAP® Java Connector (JCo) v3.1.11 released by SAP®.

According to the license of SAP®, it is not allowed to bundle the library with other software. Therefore, the JCo library needs to be obtained separately from the SAP® Marketplace, see SAP JCo.
