This is becoming increasingly easier, as new automation systems are generally quicker and simpler to implement, particularly low-code options. In this article, you will learn about the important <strong>first steps<\/strong> in <strong>introducing process automation with RPA<\/strong> in companies.  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-2a0a881\" id=\"strong-span-style-color-0-e-5290-class-stk-highlight-erstellung-eines-proof-of-concept-span-strong\" data-block-id=\"2a0a881\"><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0e5290;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Creation of a proof of concept<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-80e9529\" data-block-id=\"80e9529\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Employees often already have ideas about where a bot could help them\u2014so just ask them. Once you have an initial idea, it is advisable to first evaluate the potential of RPA as part of a proof of concept. The <strong>department <\/strong>and the <strong>IT team<\/strong> examine various tools and their capabilities. An <strong>implementation strategy<\/strong> is then defined, and a business case can be created to determine the expected return on investment.   <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-a8c34f4\" id=\"strong-span-style-color-3-e-92-cc-class-stk-highlight-schritt-1-die-anforderungen-des-zu-automatisierenden-geschaftsbereichs-erkennen-span-strong\" data-block-id=\"a8c34f4\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Step 1: Identify the requirements of the business area to be automated<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>RPA is a human-centric technology designed to support people. It enables employees to develop their skills and focus their attention on tasks that create greater value and require their full creative capacity. <\/p>\n\n<p>First, it is important to know what the <strong>needs <\/strong>of the <strong>work area<\/strong> are. Here are a few questions to help you find out: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which repetitive tasks have the <strong>greatest impact<\/strong> (e.g., on customer and team satisfaction or efficiency)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What would be the benefits of automating this task?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How many people<\/strong> are working on this task and <strong>how much time <\/strong>does it take?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you could automate an <strong>entire process<\/strong>, which one would it be?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This allows you to create a <strong>list of processes to be automated<\/strong>. This list is then sorted according to the greatest benefit and an action plan is created. Please note that it can sometimes be useful to <strong>consider the effort involved or quick wins<\/strong> when prioritizing this sorting.  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-886f5f2\" id=\"strong-span-style-color-3-e-92-cc-class-stk-highlight-schritt-2-definition-und-auswahl-von-rpa-tools-span-strong\" data-block-id=\"886f5f2\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Step 2: Defining and selecting RPA tools<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>Choosing an RPA provider is no easy task. You should consider the following aspects, among others:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Licensing <\/strong>costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Costs for <strong>installation, maintenance, and support<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type of <strong>infrastructure <\/strong>offered<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Capabilities <\/strong>of the tool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Know-how<\/strong> within the company<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In addition, when selecting an RPA provider, <strong>comparative studies<\/strong> by large companies such as Gartner (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/doc\/reprints?id=1-2AOPUPBE&amp;ct=220727&amp;st=sb\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/doc\/reprints?id=1-2AOPUPBE&amp;ct=220727&amp;st=sb<\/a>, accessed on July 13, 2023) or IDC (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/research\/new\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.idc.com\/research\/new<\/a>, accessed on July 13, 2023) can be used as a helpful resource.<\/p>\n\n<p>An excerpt of various providers is listed in the chart below. It is interesting to see which providers were considered. In addition, it may be helpful to take trends over the years into account. If, for example, you opt for an<strong> on-premise model<\/strong>, you will need an IT team that can provide support, monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades as required. With this model, training costs, time, and various other costs must be taken into account.  <\/p>\n\n<p>A <strong>cloud platform<\/strong> offers the possibility of immediate commissioning, support from the provider, and easy access (usually via the Internet). The cloud can be a valuable tool for digital transformation. Nevertheless, it is important for companies to carefully consider whether the cloud is suitable for their specific needs and goals. Issues to consider include security, data protection, and costs.   <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-434b33d\" id=\"strong-span-style-color-3-e-92-cc-class-stk-highlight-schritt-4-betriebsmodell-oder-arbeitsplan-span-strong\" data-block-id=\"434b33d\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Step 4: Operating model or work plan<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-0ee9ee5\" data-block-id=\"0ee9ee5\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">When introducing a new technology such as RPA, you need a work plan that outlines how you will achieve a <strong>return on investment<\/strong>. You should be familiar with the individual steps and their sequence\u2014from selecting a process to implementing it in production. This usually varies from company to company, as each company has its own delivery model and therefore requires a <strong>customized work plan<\/strong>.  <\/p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-916a435\" id=\"strong-span-style-color-3-e-92-cc-class-stk-highlight-schritt-5-governance-modell-mit-ausgewogener-verantwortung-zwischen-unternehmen-und-it-span-strong\" data-block-id=\"916a435\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Step 5: Governance model with balanced responsibility between business and IT<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>A governance model defines which <strong>person or group is responsible for what<\/strong> and who to contact with feedback.
