However, automation and artificial intelligence are often associated with negative aspects such as layoffs or job losses. Looking back, however, the opposite is true: if we consider previous industrial revolutions, numerous new jobs have always been created. In the third part of our RPA blog series, we therefore explore the question of whether robots are replacing humans and why it is worthwhile to automate processes.   <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-ab2c6d6\" id=\"strong-ersetzen-roboter-menschen-strong\" data-block-id=\"ab2c6d6\"><style>.stk-ab2c6d6 .stk-block-heading__text{color:#0e5290 !important}<\/style><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text has-text-color has-primary-color stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\"><strong>Will robots replace humans?<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n<p>Just a few years ago, no one would have thought of creating content for social networks or writing a blog as a full-time job. Today, these are established professions that have emerged as a result of technological progress. However, the <strong>emergence <\/strong>of these new <strong>digital professions <\/strong>does not mean that newspaper or television journalists have been displaced or are redundant. Rather, people&#8217;s consumption habits have changed. Different media are used for different needs and complement each other as sources of information.     <\/p>\n\n<p>After the invention of ATMs, there was also concern that they would replace tellers at the counter\u2014but that did not happen. ATMs have established themselves as trustworthy devices that provide us with account information and money. In contrast, we turn to bank branch employees when we have complex problems and questions. In particular, <strong>knowledge<\/strong>, <strong>experience<\/strong>, the <strong>development of new ideas<\/strong>, and <strong>personal contact<\/strong> <strong>cannot be replaced<\/strong> by a machine.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Both examples clearly show that automation should not be understood as synonymous with replacing workers. <span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\"><strong>Humans and machines complement each other to support both employees and customers in their everyday lives.<\/strong><\/span> What does this mean for the use of RPA in companies?<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-9ca7af5\" id=\"strong-wie-kann-rpa-uns-bei-der-arbeit-unterstutzen-strong\" data-block-id=\"9ca7af5\"><style>.stk-9ca7af5 .stk-block-heading__text{color:#0e5290 !important}<\/style><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text has-text-color has-primary-color stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\"><strong>How can RPA support us in our work?<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n<p>We often make our work easier by using certain programs, such as Excel. They help us to complete tasks faster, better, and with fewer errors. Like Excel, RPA is a tool that can be used for activities in <strong>almost all areas of business<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\"><strong>Another advantage is that RPA is highly customizable and can be easily tailored to your own needs.<\/strong><\/span>  <\/p>\n\n<p>RPA enables <strong>bots to perform entire routine processes<\/strong>. These can be actions such as extracting information from a document and editing it in Excel, then entering it into an ERP or CRM system and creating a report. <\/p>\n\n<p>However, it can also involve creating time sheets and invoices, monitoring deadlines, or consolidating and reconciling accounts. Payroll accounting and tax forms can also be simplified using a bot, and the relevant information can be forwarded to the tax authorities. <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>range of tasks<\/strong> that can be handled by RPA is very <strong>broad<\/strong>. Just think of the repetitive, monotonous, and time-consuming tasks that are of little value to the company. <\/p>\n\n<p>Perhaps while reading this, you have thought of a task that you have to do repeatedly\u2014this is exactly where a bot can help.<\/p>\n\n<p>The robot works similarly to a <strong>personal assistant<\/strong> with additional advantages: it can work on our instructions (a so-called serviced robot) or automatically work for us in our free time. The robot takes care of all the additional, sometimes tedious but necessary tasks. In our case, for example, it would be the office plants, which we regularly forget to water and which would be very grateful to the bot.  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-e3aca7d\" id=\"span-style-color-3-e-92-cc-class-stk-highlight-aufgaben-neu-verteilen-span\" data-block-id=\"e3aca7d\"><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\"><span style=\"color: #3e92cc;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Redistribute tasks<\/span><\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>Merging reports<\/strong>, <strong>sending emails<\/strong>, <strong>transferring <\/strong><strong>information <\/strong>from one system to another\u2014these are all important tasks in our work. However, they are very time-consuming and relatively insignificant.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large ticss-a093c1e6\"><a href=\"https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A-1024x314.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"314\" src=\"https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A-1024x314.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A-300x92.jpg 300w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A-768x236.jpg 768w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A-1024x314.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A-1536x471.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_A.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p>Using a robot can <strong>reduce <\/strong>the <strong>time required<\/strong> to perform these tasks by <strong>up to 35%<\/strong>. In addition, the task no longer has to be performed entirely by a human being; instead, the human would only spend part of the time <strong>validating <\/strong>the work performed by the robot. <\/p>\n\n<p>In the event of an error, e.g., if business rules are not followed or human expertise is required, this information would be manually forwarded to a human who would continue the work where the robot left off.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-b983f83\" id=\"strong-span-style-color-0-e-5290-class-stk-highlight-geringere-arbeitsbelastung-mehr-zufriedenheit-span-strong\" data-block-id=\"b983f83\"><style>.stk-b983f83{margin-bottom:11px !important}<\/style><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0e5290;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Lower workload, greater satisfaction<\/span><\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>A simple <strong>use case<\/strong> from everyday working life is <strong>time recording<\/strong>. Before automation, one person had to log into the time recording application several times a week and check whether all employees had uploaded the information to the system. If information such as hours was missing, an <strong>email <\/strong>had to be written <strong>manually <\/strong>requesting that the missing information be added. The person responsible then waited until the hours were uploaded and repeated the process again.   <\/p>\n\n<p>This happened every Friday and Monday: a repetitive, tedious, and exhausting process. With the use of a robot, these tasks no longer need to be performed by an employee. A bot runs automatically every Friday afternoon and Monday morning, accessing the time tracking system to load the hours and checking whether all employees have recorded their hours. If this is not the case, the robot <strong>automatically <\/strong>sends an <strong>email <\/strong>to the person concerned, asking them to complete the missing information.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Thanks to automation, the person responsible for the task is now only responsible for checking that the report sent by the robot is correct and then forwarding it to their superiors for review.<\/p>\n\n<p>The automated process not only <strong>speeds up<\/strong> the entire procedure, but also <strong>reduces the workload<\/strong> for <strong>staff <\/strong>in their day-to-day work, freeing up time for more valuable activities.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B-1024x363.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"363\" src=\"https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B-1024x363.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B-300x106.jpg 300w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B-768x272.jpg 768w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B-1024x363.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B-1536x545.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/init-software.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230315_Illus_Blog_03_B.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p>Another example where robots can be used to provide support is in the <strong>preparation of reports<\/strong>. This is a task that is part of the work in various professions and industries. Here are two examples:  <\/p>\n\n<p>The main responsibilities of managers are to lead teams, provide information, and achieve common goals. Although writing reports is also part of the job, it is not the core of the work. <\/p>\n\n<p>The situation is similar in administrative professions. It is common for employees to work beyond regular working hours and thus work overtime in order to prepare documents and reports on time. These reports are often intended to improve planning, avoid stress, and minimize <strong>risks<\/strong>. However, the opposite is often the case: <strong>stress <\/strong>increases and mistakes are made. This can also affect the quality of life of those involved, who have less time for their private lives due to the <strong>high workload<\/strong>. Several studies link job dissatisfaction with higher rates of illness in the medium and long term (source: e.g., Hannah Nichols, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/312458\" target=\"_blank\">Job dissatisfaction has negative health effects by age 40<\/a>). So wouldn&#8217;t you rather use a tool like RPA that <strong>takes care<\/strong> of <strong>tasks <\/strong>like these for you?      <\/p>\n\n<p>What processes and tasks are involved in your company? And if you already have ideas, which activities could you then complete at your leisure or in good time without having to work overtime? <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<p><a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-f727e34\" id=\"strong-die-wichtigsten-punkte-zusammengefasst-strong\" data-block-id=\"f727e34\"><style>.stk-f727e34 .stk-block-heading__text{color:#0e5290 !important}<\/style><h2 class=\"stk-block-heading__text has-text-color has-primary-color stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\"><strong>The most important points summarised:<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Robots do not replace humans, but rather <strong>support <\/strong>them in their work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By delegating monotonous tasks, employees have <strong>more time<\/strong> to concentrate on important tasks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This also increases <strong>motivation<\/strong>, <strong>enjoyment<\/strong>, and <strong>satisfaction <\/strong>at work, and improves <strong>quality of life<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-5f00ac0\" id=\"ausblick\" data-block-id=\"5f00ac0\"><style>.stk-5f00ac0 .stk-block-heading__text{color:#3e92cc !important}<\/style><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text has-text-color has-secondary-color stk-block-heading--use-theme-margins\">Outlook<\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>In our next blog post, we will look at the <strong>first steps<\/strong> relevant to the <strong>introduction of process automation<\/strong> with RPA.
