Since the end of 2016, INIT is evaluating/migrating its own SAP systems and solutions to the new possibilities of HANA. With its InMemory database HANA and its new Application Suite S/4 HANA, SAP is meeting the challenges of digitalization. For the first time, SAP offers real-time analysis, a modern user experience and the possibility of cost reduction through the optimal support of individual business processes. INIT puts the investment and extends the existing INIT solution suite to both S/4 HANA and ERP on HANA. This will make the new technological possibilities available to the customers of our solutions. In dialogue with our customers, we analyze explicit application scenarios and create the appropriate added value through the development, adaptation and subsequent support. This ensures that the INIT solution suite is still able to cope with the rapid development in the area of digitization. We are currently collecting a lot of experience in SAP-basis-administration and customizing SAP ERP, S4 HANA, SAP-HCM and SAP-BI in the high-performance data center of our cooperation partner dbh Logistics IT AG, including all services, opportunities for SaaS and the dbh-Cloud. Since June 2016, we are now officially represented in Valencia, Spain by INIT Solution S.L.

Valencia with its 800,000 inhabitants is the third largest city in Spain and capital of the economically important province of Valencia. We are located centrally at the beautiful Plaza del Ayuntamiento in a shared office (as in Stuttgart) with our longstanding partner Auren and their strong and nationwide presence especially in Spain and Latin America in the fields of auditing, tax, legal and business consulting. The Auren Spain department of IT Consulting is very strong and mainly coordinated by a team in Valencia.

With this step we underline the successful cooperation with Auren in the implementation of joint projects in the field of IT. [Update 13/11/2014 – The Winner Is…] INIT as an expert judge in the competition “Save as”

Each of us clicks on it several times a day without thinking about it: the small disk icon in many computer programs, which allows to save text documents, pictures or other files.

But actually only a few people are still using diskettes as storage media. CDs, DVDs, USB sticks or the cloud have replaced the plastic disks years ago. And yet the disk still persists as a graphical synonym for backing up files.
How could a contemporary symbol for the function “Save As” look like? Your ideas are needed: Take part in the competition of the Stuttgarter Zeitung, the Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart and INIT, – you design the new icon instead of the floppy disk. We address everyone from creative individuals and students to professional designers and usability experts to agencies and companies.

The competition is not meant to set future design standards. In the foreground is the fun in dealing creatively with the rapid changes in data storage and ease of use of IT products.

It’s worth taking part! In the two categories amateurs and professionals, the Stuttgarter Zeitung, the Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart and INIT, donated several cash and gift prices.

Upload one or maximum two proposals for a new “Save as” icons latest 30th September 2014 to the homepage of the Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart. The ten highest ranked symbols per category are finally evaluated by the juryl of experts.

The winners will be presented and awarded at the World Usability Day in Stuttgart on 13 November 2014.

The competition is supported by the decisive engagement of the INIT as a member of the jury and prize sponsor and once again underscores our enthusiasm for all facets of information technology and the joy of collaboration in joint projects

Conny Mechela from Hamburg is the winner of the competition. The award has been given to her at the World Usability Day in Stuttgart  On the picture are the representatives of INIT, Thomas Winkelsdorf and Jörg Mayr together with Conny Mechela and Hjalmar Hiemann from the Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart (right).

Conny Mechela will finalize her university studies in 2015. She is financing already her tuition fee by  working as a Graphic Designer for several clients. All the more we are happy to know, that our donation will help a highly motivated, young professional for starting/expanding business.

Minimize Security Risks for Company- and Employee-owned Smartphones & Co

The use of smartphones and tablets is increasingly altering the way our business communication works since information can be accessed and shared at any time and from anywhere. Besides using company equipment there is a growing trend of using privately owned employee hardware for official purposes (Bring Your Own Device).

Accessing enterprise databases from mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets brings many advantages but also includes an increased security risk. Due to their low weight and small size they are carried everywhere and can easily fall into the wrong hands due to carelessness, loss, theft or deliberate spying. Unauthorized parties can gain profound insights into sensitive corporate data by using the data or access information to company accounts stored on the device. This can cause consequential economic damages or an enormous loss of reputation, for instance when calculation documents, construction drawings or sensitive data regarding business partners becomes public. Depending on the type of data that is stored on the device, it might even be necessary to notify the competent authorities and stakeholders in case of loss of a smartphone.

“Bring Your Own Device” amplifies this problem significantly as private devices not only store customer, supplier or company data but also private employee data. In contrast to company owned devices, IT managers only have limited control over private hardware and the data stored on it as the privacy of the individual must be protected. In addition, the device sprawl causes the company to lose track of the number and type of hardware used, installed applications (prone to spy software) or the numbers of users with access to those devices.

The security risk can be minimized through the implementation of legal requirements and technical and organizational measures with regard to data protection and information security.

We will gladly advise you in the assessment of  your specific risks in the field of mobile devices or regarding “Bring Your Own Device” and support you in establishing the necessary measures required by law.
